North East Derbyshire Liberal Democrats are pleased to announce their selected candidate to contest the next general election:

Dr. Richard Bull.

I was delighted to have been selected and am looking forward to meeting people across the constituency between now and the next election, to be held on 6th May, 2010.

I have lived in Dronfield for 39 years, attending the old Gosforth school before attending Henry Fanshawe school, and then onto the University of Leeds to study medicine, graduating in 1983 with Honours. I was awarded a Masters degree in Medical Science from the University of Sheffield and became a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

I am a GP & GP Trainer in Dronfield, working in practice 9 sessions a week and I also qualified as a GP with Special Interest, running 3 drug clinics for heroin addicts in Chesterfield on Tuesdays.

I am a Town and District councillor for the Dronfield South ward and serves on the Town Twinning, Henry Fanshawe Foundation Governors, Youth Council and Recycling committees for Dronfield Town Council and the Planning Committee for the District Council.

I have been married to Karen for over 26 years and have 2 sons Michael & Samuel. Karen is a school governor in the Dronfield Junior School, where she also does voluntary teacher support work (and Play Therapy).

Michael has graduated from the University of Birmingham in Physics and Space research and is working at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre in Sheffield, whilst Samuel is currently studying Aeronaughtical & Aerospace Engineering at the University of Leeds.

My interests include running & cycling, films, good food & wine. I am also a committed Christian and elder of my local church in Dronfield. In addition, I have pioneered Primary Health Care training in African villages over the past 13 years, with projects in South Africa, Mozambique, Sri Lanka and Zambia.

My other activities include chairman of Glenvale Developments, a local property development business, and numerous health service management projects over the last 20 years.
