Residency:
I have
lived in Dronfield with my wife Sue since we were married in 1970.
Job/Pre-retirement job:
For 20
years I was self employed running and operating first of all Dronfield Taxis
and then progressing to Dronfield Coaches and Taxis Ltd. With the coaches we
mainly operated continental tours all over
Europe
on behalf of Leger Holidays who then offered me the position of operations
manager, a position I held for nearly 20 years before taking early
retirement in 2005. Since then I have worked part time at B&Q for four hours
early morning leaving me with the rest of the day to carry out my council
duties and concentrate on my hobbies.
Family:
Sue &
I have two sons Richard who followed me as Operations manager at Leger, and
Peter who is financial director for a blade making company .We have two
grandchildren Lauren & Sam.
Interests and hobbies:
I am a
sports fan in general and a football fan in particular being a long time
member of the 92 club having visited all the league grounds. I have been a
season ticket holder at Sheffield Wednesday for over 30 years.
My
main hobby is my allotment where I spend many productive hours each week. I
am chairman of Dronfield Horticultural Society and sit on the committees of
Hill Top Sports & Social club and on the Dronfield in Bloom committee I
previously spent many years as a special constable in Sheffield.
Why
I’m a councillor:
I can
be rather opinionated and cannot tolerate things that are obviously not
right in our area and feel that it is no good just complaining if you are
not willing to stand up and be counted and help do something to help right
the wrongs helping to create a better community.
